June 2024
The Junior School Council (JSC) team has been exceptionally active with several recent initiatives demonstrating their commitment and enthusiasm.
Firstly, the “Bottles for Birre” campaign has been a resounding success, with the wool pack drop-off point being filled in just four days! This is a remarkable achievement from the school community, and we thoroughly appreciate the effort that all families, community members and staff have put in to make this a success. We have yet to cash in the recycled items, but early indications suggest that we have well and truly surpassed our goal of over $100!
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea was another huge success this semester, with the event being well-supported by family and friends of the Birre community. JSC representatives thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to host the event, serving food and drinks to all comers. We raised a total of $366.85.
A recent addition to our lunch and recess times has been structured activities. JSC members have supported this initiative by organising equipment and resources for Tuesday Tunes, down ball and bat tennis. This welcome addition has ensured students have engaging activities to participate in during their breaks.
Finally, a new concept initiated by the JSC was the ‘Day in May’ fundraiser. On the ‘Day in May,’ students and staff dressed as rock stars to raise money for the cancer charity, Challenge Australia. This fun and meaningful event highlighted the school’s community spirit and commitment to supporting important causes. We were able to raise $140.95.
Thank you to everyone involved for making these initiatives such a success. We look forward to many more exciting projects and events in the future!
